Cartesi Ecosystem Recap #16
Dive into Tech and Community updates from across the Cartesi Ecosystem!
Written By Marketing Unit
November 8th - A validator marketplace proposal to align incentives within the Cartesi ecosystem, three demo-ready dApps integrating Espresso for sequencing, and an exciting experience ahead at Devcon, plus the ETHGlobal Bangkok hackathon including a joint track with Avail? November is promising to be an epic month already, but let’s cover the happenings of the previous month, first starting with the ecosystem-wide updates.
Check out the last Keeping it Simple recap to hear from the units pushing forward on development in October.
* note that some dApps and components may still require fine-tuning. Since the project is operating in a decentralized manner, these updates are not curated or filtered by Cartesi.
Don't forget to mark your calendar for our next monthly Keeping It Simple call on Monday, December 2nd! Connect with core contributors directly and learn about what they’re shipping. Feedback is always welcome, so please if you have any, let them know over on Discord!
We’re always down to sprinkle some chaos, especially if Espresso is involved. They should know by now that we take our stress tests very seriously.
We’re also kicking things into gear with the Espresso-integrated Cartesi dApps. Comet, DCA Monster, and Drawing Canvas have been working hard to optimize the dApps so that you can try them out at our upcoming event with Espresso. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to partake even if you’re not there in Bangkok — keep an eye out for the upcoming blog!
That’s not the only partnership that is progressing. We’re cooking things up with Avail for the ETHGlobal hackathon with a joint track. Peep below in the Events section to see how you can build your best dApp yet, combining high computational power with strong data availability, and win a bounty at this hackathon.
RIVES has been running multiple smaller contests over the past few weeks: Gotta kill all the pests, Pew pew, Cassic tetrixoor, Bombrunner, and Rhythm mixing. But guess what’s coming up next? Creators Season is here with $5000 in prizes for the community. A new gamejam has been announced and the best games will enter a player contest phase, where both players and creators can win additional prizes. For the first time, creators will also share a pool prize based on how much engagement their games received from players. Pretty cool, right? Catch up with the news below and follow RIVES on X to keep up to date on all details.
You can think of Bug Buster as the internet’s trustless immune system and they’ve been working on upgrades. Bug Buster is now ready to allow bounties for smart contracts! Follow them on X to stay tuned for a tutorial drop soon.
More episodes of the IBTIA podcast have been released, hosted by João, and we’re super lucky to have amazing guests like Luis from Shutter and Jordan from Symbiotic! If you missed any episodes, you can catch the full playlist here and be sure to sign up for the next one.
Those are not the only new episodes released. More videos have been added to the video tutorials playlist where they cover how you can build a Cartesi dApp using familiar languages such as JavaScript, Rust, and Python. Check them out here.

The Grants Council has put up a proposal for the renewal of the CGP Wave 2, with new Intents and RFPs more focused on addressing ecosystem priorities and goals. Read more on the proposed Intents here and make sure your voice is heard by voting for or against this proposal on Snapshot before November 11.
We’re thrilled to spotlight a project that connects directly to Cartesi’s Brazilian roots. Collaborating with the Niterói Municipality Administration and the Federal Fluminense University (UFF), Cartesi is ready to enhance the city’s Mobility System (MbNit). This system manages comprehensive mobility data for Niterói, and our tech contribution is set to introduce new features that enhance transparency and efficiency, funded by a government grant.
This means residents will soon have access to real-time data on bus locations, passenger statistics, vehicle counts, and more. The initiative began as a vision during the SBRC’24 hackathon and is now steadily progressing into a tangible reality. We’re thrilled to see this transformation come to life leveraging blockchain and Cartesi’s stack!
Staying on the topic of Brazil, did you know Cartesi is being taught at universities? Over 100 students have enrolled in Cartesi courses across several universities in Brazil, led by Prof Antonio Rocha from UFF. Now in its second year, this initiative builds on a previous course covering blockchain fundamentals, Linux basics, and the core concepts behind Cartesi tech.
And that's not all — the professor and his team have been achieving even more wild feats, like signing an agreement with the RNP for the National Blockchain Observatory to create APIs for Cartesi to operate as a Layer 2 solution, alongside developing a series of demo Cartesi dApps for the observatory's user community to use as models, all backed by specific documentation. Kudos for all these developments! We are excited to see Cartesi involved in governmental institutional-level partnerships.
We are so locked in for Devcon. Together with Espresso, we’re bringing it Back to the Future Season 3. Get ready for good vibes, demos of Cartesi dApps integrating Espresso, and a spicy Battle of the VMs debate with our dearest Augusto, Nick from Fuel, Jim from Catalyst, Dino from Fluent, Rushi from Movement, and Vijay from Eclipse. It will be moderated by Alysia from Espresso, and we cannot wait. Sign up to the event here.
Very excited to have two talks at Devcon, one by Gabriel and Augusto on Dave (Cartesi’s fraud-proof system) and the other by Felipe on comparing appchain rollups vs general purpose rollups. We’ll also have Carsten speaking at AVS Day, so find us on the ground and meet our Cartesians!
Cartesi is also so back to ETHGlobal, this time with special swag and fresh activations that we don’t want to spoil just yet. We’re also bringing developers a joint track with Avail. More info on the track here.
A huge shoutout to the teams behind Comet (Shaheen and Bruno), DCA.Monster (Pablo and Mauro), and Drawing Canvas (Dimitar) for their relentless efforts to prepare their demos and showcase their dApps at our Back to the Future cocktail night. They’ve been hard at work optimizing performance and adding new features to enhance your experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Integration Corner at the event, where you can test out these dApps firsthand—and maybe even snag some special swag!
Keep posted on where we are and say hi to us when you get the chance by subscribing to our live public events calendar. Also don’t forget to take part in event-related campaigns over on Galxe, and Zealy! We’re no strangers to distributing CTSI tokens to our Galxe questers, so stay tuned for any new campaigns popping up!
