Cartesi Ecosystem Recap 15
Dive into Tech and Community updates from across the Cartesi Ecosystem!
Written By Marketing Unit
December 6th - The validator marketplace proposal being approved, Dave paper release, Devcon in Bangkok, another ETHGlobal hackathon with an Avail joint track, and Back to the Future with Espresso with 3 appchain demos. There’s a lot to cover this month, so let’s kick things off with the latest updates from the Cartesi ecosystem.
Check out the last Keeping it Simple recap to hear from the units pushing forward on development in November.
* note that some dApps and components may still require fine-tuning. Since the project is operating in a decentralized manner, these updates are not curated or filtered by Cartesi.
Don't forget to mark your calendar for our next monthly Keeping it Simple on Monday, January 6th! Connect with core contributors directly and learn about what they’re shipping. Feedback is always welcome, so please if you have any, let them know over on Discord!
Starting strong with the Validator Marketplace being approved by the community governance. Marking the beginning of the efforts to create a Validator Marketplace, which will be a decentralized platform where dApp devs can easily connect with validators. It brings new utility to the CTSI token while strengthening the link between CTSI and dApp growth of the ecosystem. Learn more about it here.
We’re honored to have been part of Espresso’s mainnet launch as their launch partner. Our teams work closely together, innovating alongside each other to expand the infinite garden that is Ethereum.
Integrating Espresso, Comet, DCA Monster, and Drawing Canvas are working hard towards putting their dApps on mainnet. You can already test out these dApps, so give it a shot and let the team know of any feedback you might have.
That’s not the only integration that’s flourishing. Together with Avail we hosted a joint track during the ETHGlobal hackathon in Bangkok. More on that later, but let’s just say the builders absolutely understood the assignment of integrating Cartesi’s stack combined with Avail’s powerful DA.
But a little healthy competition won’t hurt anyone, especially not our partnership. Siannie took on Prabal in a badminton match, taking Cartesi v.s. Avail on a whole different level.
Dave is finally here, a novel fraud-proof algorithm that is truly decentralized while resistant to Sybil attacks. Read the paper here.
It’s creator season baby! And RIVES is in full swing with $5000 in prizes for the community. Phase 1 of the season ended with it encouraging creators to test out the platform and creating their own cartridges. For the first time, creators will also share a pool prize based on how much engagement their games received from players. Stay tuned for the next phase and follow RIVES on X to keep up to date on all details.
More episodes of the IBTIA podcast have been released, hosted by João and some guest appearances by Shaheen, where we chatted with guests like Ian from Push Protocol and Henri from OKContract. We still have episodes lined up, so be sure to sign up for the next one to not miss it. Want a full playlist? You can find it here.
More into learning how to build dApps using Cartesi? More video tutorials have been added to the playlist, which covers how you can build a Cartesi dApp using familiar languages such as JavaScript, Rust, and Python. Check them out here.
Want to create an impact in the Cartesi ecosystem? Cartesi Grants Program Wave 2 is here! With new intents and RFPs that are more tailored to ecosystem priorities and growth, If you’re ready to make a change in the ecosystem, apply for a grant here. Or go here if you want to learn more first.
Cartesi is making headlines in Brazil with media features in top-tier publications like Cointelegraph, BeInCrypto, and Bankless BR, to name a few. These features underscore our growing influence and recognition within the vibrant Brazilian blockchain ecosystem.
With the majority of our stellar team hailing from Brazil, it's especially rewarding to see our work resonate so strongly in the country!
Devcon was a wild week for our Cartesians, starting even pre-Devcon with our Back to the Future event with Espresso! We showcased 3 Cartesi dApps integrating Espresso and hosted a spicy Battle of the VMs debate with Cartesi co-founder Augusto, Nick from Fuel, Jim from Catalyst, Dino from Fluent, Rushi from Movement, and Vijay from Eclipse and moderated by Alysia from Espresso! It was an absolute banger and thank you to everyone who came!
Moving onto Devcon where we had two of our dear Cartesians rocking the stage. Gabriel talked about Dave (Cartesi’s fraud-proof system) and Felipe talked about gas metering in appchain rollups vs. general purpose rollups. Plus Felipe finally answered the age old question…
Over at AVS Day, Carsten did a speedrun on Cartesi as a co-processor which you can watch here. And ETHGlobal was a blast, with 8 projects submitted on the Cartesi track! And of course, we have to celebrate the track winners!
Let’s give a big round of applause to our Hackathon winners! Taking first place is Ka-Ching, an innovative AI powered by the Cartesi Machine that detects fraudulent wallets using a clever gamified gas fee mechanism.
In second place, we have Commit, an event app that leverages a staking system to reduce no-shows, ensuring better attendance and accountability.
And rounding out the top three is Backpacker, a brilliant system that rewards travelers with tokens for sharing detailed reviews. These reviews help train a federated learning system, balancing valuable feedback with robust privacy.
And we can’t forget the winners of the joint track with Avail of course! Give it up for AI United and DegenOS! AI United is a football-like game where users can code, buy, or manage bots as players to compete in dynamic, team-based matches or club activities.
DegenOS is a decentralized OS integrating six core applications, including DeFi and social apps like token swaps, block explorer, DeFi metrics, social lookup, etc. Offering web3 interaction with web2-like usability.
And a quick mention of the Incrypted Birthday Meetup in Ukraine where we had Muxailo on the scene!
This month's shoutout goes to our very dear Stephen and Guillerme! They were instrumental for Cartesi during the ETHGlobal hackathon. They worked long hours, tirelessly helping builders who took on the challenge to build something with Cartesi, all while wearing a big smile. Cartesi is lucky to have amazing developers like you two!
