ETHGlobal Bangkok Hackathon Guide
Everything you need to rock the Cartesi ETHGlobal hackathon track!
Written By DevAd Unit
Blockchain infrastructure has seen incredible innovation, yet the wait continues for decentralized applications that truly reach the masses and create meaningful change. Cutting-edge technology alone isn’t enough anymore—protocols must actively ignite and support the next wave of transformative dApps.
Cartesi and EigenLayer are stepping up to the challenge with a week-long hackathon, marking the third edition of Cartesi's Experiment Week. This is where core protocol developers and community members from both projects roll up their sleeves to (1) build cool stuff and explore what is possible by combining both tech solutions, and (2) test the dev journey and own infrastructure to optimize further and strengthen it.
By combining Cartesi’s Linux-powered Coprocessor with EigenLayer’s restaking protocol for security and scalability, this offers developers an unprecedented foundation and opens the door to sophisticated DeFi, and verifiable AI to name a few.
Experiment Week is about bringing those possibilities to life and inspiring you to take your building even further!
Start Date: February 10, 2025
The Experiment Week will begin with an opening ceremony inviting all community members at 5:00 PM UTC from Cartesi and Eigenlayer live on X.
End Date: February 16, 2025
All projects must be submitted by 5:00 PM UTC on February 16, 2025, to be considered valid. Even if an idea or project didn’t work out, a submission is encouraged to explain any insights gained or problems encountered.
Demo day: February 17, 2025
Present your Experiment Week build to the community at 4:00 PM UTC to the community and showcase your project to the world!
Here are some ideas you can work on:

1st prize: $6000 (in CTSI and EIGEN)
2nd prize: $4000 (in CTSI and EIGEN)
3rd prize: $2000 (in CTSI and EIGEN)
The Cartesi Coprocessor revolutionizes blockchain-based applications by enabling smart contracts to offload complex computations to an external platform. Built on EigenLayer's cryptoeconomic design, it leverages restaked value to ensure secure and trustworthy off-chain processing.
What sets the Cartesi Coprocessor apart is its integration of a Linux-compatible RISC-V virtual machine, providing developers with a familiar and versatile environment for executing computations. This compatibility bridges the gap between traditional software development and blockchain innovation, allowing the reuse of existing software libraries and tools. By combining blockchain security with the flexibility of off-chain computation, the Cartesi Coprocessor empowers developers to build sophisticated dApps that were once impractical due to computational constraints.
EigenLayer introduces Restaking, a new primitive for web3 builders that provides a "marketplace for trust" bringing together Restakers, Operators, and Actively Validated Services (AVSs). It allows users to stake assets such as Native ETH, Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs), the EIGEN token, or any ERC20 token into EigenLayer smart contracts, thereby extending Ethereum's cryptoeconomic security to additional applications on the network.
EigenLayer solves the bootstrapping problem for new web3 services by aggregating a ready-to-deploy network of Operators and Restaked assets that are ready to operate and validate dApps. Instead of requiring every web3 builder to independently raise capital, establish cryptoeconomic security, and onboard Operators, EigenLayer offers Cryptoeconomic Security as a Service. This approach frees builders to focus on their core differentiators, accelerating innovation without the need to build security frameworks from scratch.

When you pair EigenLayer's innovative restaking approach with a Linux coprocessor, you're essentially bringing a secure, scalable, real-world computer to life within the blockchain ecosystem. We look forward to seeing how everyone will make use of it and bring their most ambitious projects to life! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to jump over on our Discord.
